Funk is back!!

After being burried under Grunge, Britpop, Slick, R&B and monotonous House-beats, the groovy jazz/funk has been revived by the saxophonist Kasper Fredholm and his band ”Groove Syndrome” on their latest album ”Naked Brunch”.

With a re-vitalised version of the style that speaks both to heart and brain, soul and toes, the orchestra mixes funky grooves, sweet riffs and captivating solos.

Through this exciting mix, the crispy soul-vocal of Kendra Lou and the intimate ”spoken-word”- lecture of Lee Robinson, binds the elements together in a swinging city cocktail.

Star musicians with roots and vision… !

The band knows its roots. You clearly sense the inspiration from Maceo Parker and Brecker Brothers from first track ”Chill factor” over ”Cracktime”, which both in lyrics and music sends its regards to the now legendary rapper/bass player – Meshell Ndegeocello.

As a contrast to this groovy funk-tour de force, we hear the intense and tender spoken word voice of Lee Robinsons in the ballad ”Nature Boy”.

Featuring the album, is the excellent guitarist Aske Jacoby, who gives the music a special blues/rocky’ dimension, and on the title track of the album you can also tell that the band is inspired by the legendary Jimi Hendrix.

The Musicians on ”Naked Brunch”, has been playing together in different orchestras through the last 15 years, but with this constellation, they have build a solid and bubbling cooperation.

”I have been leading my own jazz- and funk bands in the past, but only with KASPER FREDHOLM GROOVE SYNDROME, do I feel that I have the opportunity to integrate the two elements from funk and jazz, and let them melt into one. This way, I get to express my musical talents, feelings and ideas 100 % on ”Naked Brunch”.

- Kasper Fredholm was born in Copenhagen in 1969.

- Educated from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1992

- Received a diploma from the Rhythmic Music Academy in 2000

- Has played and recorded with artists as Kim Larsen, Det brune punktum, SP Just Frost, Nikolaj Nørlund, Wonderbrazz and more.
